Service Description

Identify strengths and opportunities for performance improvement in sprinting and hurdles technique. We'll look at: HURDLES - start to hurdle 1 - lead leg and trail leg mechanics - hurdle take-off - hurdle clearance - hurdle landing - sprinting between hurdles - stride pattern (for long hurdles & for developing athletes in sprint hurdles) - the run-out SPRINTS - acceleration - body posture - arm action - foot strike - power production - leg speed to power ratio STARTS (optional* - see below) - setting up the blocks/starting position - 'set' position body posture - technique for drive phase (many athletes are not able to 'stay low' as many coaches instruct) - leg speed to power ratio for drive phase Athletes will receive a report summarising their strengths (things we want them to keep doing) and opportunities to sprint/hurdle faster as well as some practice at some of the high-impact improvements to their technique. Where helpful, athletes will also receive videos/photos after the session to demonstrate the movements/postures before and after receiving instruction. Armed with this information, athletes who are training as part of a squad can then practice this in their squad training. Non-squad athletes can practice this at home or in competitions. All athletes are welcome to book in for further coaching sessions to continue refining their technique. *If you would like an assessment of your starting technique (blocks, 3 point or crouch) as well as sprint or hurdles technique, we will need 2hrs 15mins and the cost for the whole session is $200.
